Let's first define authenticity. Many of us misunderstand what authenticity truly means. It's not about how others perceive us, but rather how we choose to project ourselves. Nowadays, technology plays a significant role in various aspects of our lives, including relationships, work, shopping, well-being, and life events.
However, some argue that technology undermines authenticity and questions originality. For example, people might consider avatars or digital images as fake and inauthentic compared to real-life photographs, as anyone can create whatever they want. However, that is precisely what authenticity is—it allows people to express their true selves.
Research shows that 76% of individuals want their avatars to reflect their uniqueness in ways they can't in the physical world. Stanford researchers discovered that if people have a better avatar than their physical selves, they become more sociable.
